Uni the Unicorn
Uni spent most of her time jumping into Bobby's arms when
she was afraid. Uni's origin is fairly unknown. In the opening credits,
she simply jumps into Bobby's arms the moment after the kids pick themselves
up and dust themselves off after being dumped in the Realm by a coaster-gone-crazy.
As DM, Tiamat, and Venger are also present on the scene, it's my theory
that she was either (1) involved in the summoning of the kids by DM or
(2) dragon bait....Most folks, myself included, found Uni the most incredibly annoying character in the series. She can't speak- instead she talks in little whinnies and squeals (creatively voiced by the ubiquitous Frank Welker), and she usually trips and must be carried in any scene where SPEED is a necessity. But in my opinion, she serves a useful purpose in that she keeps Bobby from receiving the main brunt of the teasing. After all, were it not for her, Bobby would be the littlest and youngest. And she does rescue the kids from time to time, mostly by providing a distraction. Still....they might have made her a little less annoying and a little more useful-- though the scene where she steals Presto's hat and casts a successful spell with it shows us there's obviously a lot more intelligence in her one-horned head than we give her credit for.
