Minor Characters (Alphabetical Order):
WARNING! Spoilers ahead, if you've not seen all the episodes!
Aiyesha, City at the Edge of Midnight.
Daughter of Rahmoud, stolen by the Nightwalker. She gives Sheila
a doll as a keepsake of their adventures.
Alfour, The Lost Children. This
562-year-old wookie knows how to fly a spaceship! The ship was shot
down by a sullen Venger after the great escape from his castle, but not
to worry--Alfour'll have it up and running again in about 15 years.
Amber, Cave of the Faerie Dragons.
A pint-size dragon with an attitude and a crush on Presto. She's
helpful in getting the kids out of a jam with some giant ants, and in getting
one of Presto's spells to finally work right. Even if it's just a
silly floating rock trick.
The Beholder, Eye of the Beholder. It's
a big hairy floating eyeball with tentacles (YUCK!) that hates beauty,
for beauty is the only thing that can defeat it.
Cawamung, Beauty and the Bogbeast. Given
how the bogbeasts talk, his name might really be Callamong, or even Caramon
(!), but we'll never know without the script...in any case he was a bogbeast
gone bad, out to destroy his bretheren for reasons unknown.
The Cloudbears, The Traitor. Don't
let these innocent talking teddies fool you into thinking they're utterly
useless-- they hold the key to Venger's downfall. They think it's
the Cloud Spirits who protect them, but it's really the glowing Heartstones
they wear.
The Darkling, The Winds of Darkness.
A creepy villain who delighted in stealing innocent victims with his evil
fog. All set to take over the Realm with his Winds of Darkness, he
is finally thwarted by Martha just before taking his final victim.
Dekkion, the Celestial Knight, Quest of the
Skeleton Warrior. Dekkion got greedy, and spent many years under
a fleshless curse as a result. After redeeming himself, he is now
the last of his kind.
Demodragon, The Treasure of Tardos.
It's half-demon, half-dragon, and too much for Venger to handle once it
gets hold of the kids' magic weapons! Created to breach Tardos Keep,
it's a two-headed dragon that breathes fire and ice. And like all
dragons, it's susceptible to the dragon version of kryptonite: dragonbane.
Freddie, The Girl Who Dreamed Tomorrow.
Terry's loyal hound. Freddie can tell when something's not right.
And he's a lot smarter and braver than Scooby ever was.
The Giant (with the Brooklyn Accent), P-R-E-S-T-O
Spells Disaster. Equipped with massive size and a really bad
sense of humor, this guy likes to steal golden dragon eggs for his hoarde
and make really bad puns. But, like many giants, this one's Achilles
Heel ends up being a big beanstalk.
Guicken, The Winds of Darkness. Does
this little creature remind you of Fizzgig? Or perhaps a stunted
owl? Martha's little pet...whatever...becomes one of the Darkling's
victims after befriending the kids.
Hector the Halfling, Hall of Bones.
One of Venger's more...bubbly...incarnations. He does a fine Cheshire
Cat impression, but don't ask him to guide you anywhere unless you're willing
to pay the price.
He Whose Name Cannot Be Spoken, Dungeon at the
Heart of Dawn. Not even Dungeonmaster wants to touch THIS
monster, who managed to scare both he and Venger into hiding in
the Underworld. He's never been defeated, and is still out there
roaming the Universes, wreaking terror and havoc wherever he goes....
Iovino, The Lost Children. This kid's
got a Vulcan's knack for numbers- he'll give you the odds for any situation.
No matter how bad they are, or how much you don't want to hear them.
Jareth, the Last Illusion. Varla's
overprotective daddy. He is mistrustful of the kids at first, but
once he finds out they can help his lost daughter, he risks sharing the
fate of witches to set the kids free. Bears no resemblance to that
pesky Goblin King.
Jimmy Whittaker, City at the Edge of Midnight.
This kid thinks his whole adventure in the Realm was nothing but a weird
dream, which leaves our heroes furious at losing a chance to get a message
to their parents.
Josef Mueller, The Time Lost. It's
got to be confusing to a WWII Nazi pilot to be suddenly sucked into another
world and given a futuristic plane to aid your country. But somehow
Josef manages to figure out that friendship is more important than the
glory of winning a war single-handedly, and thwarts Venger's plans.
Karena, Citadel of Shadow. Who would've
thought that Venger had a sister? And that she was that cute
and blonde? Don't let the looks fool you, however- she's every bit
as nasty as her big brother, if not quite as powerful. At least she
was- until Sheila got on her good side.
Karox, Servant of Evil. This gentle
giant hated serving Venger, but Venger blackmailed him into running his
Prison of Agony. Thanks to Bobby's generousity and Dungeonmaster's
talisman, Karox can now defend his people from the one-horned menace.
Kelek, Valley of the Unicorns. A sneaky
wolf-riding wizard who steals horns from unicorns, to obtain the ultimate
power over matter, teleportation. The kids are no match for him,
but he soon learns that even unicorn horns aren't enough to stop Venger.
King Rahmoud (see Rahmoud)
King Travar Child of the Stargazer.
He had the bad luck to be married to the half-demon queen, and spent his
reign in terror for his life....but when it came time for Starfall, the
good king allowed an 'oversight' to occur, letting Kosar escape to fulfill
his destiny and free his people.
King Varen, Cave of the Faerie Dragons.
A greedy king who captures Queen Tasmira of the faerie dragons, attempting
to get ahold of the dragons' treasure hoarde. He posesses an ingenious
dungeon cell in which magic doesn't work- perfect for catching meddlesome
kids. Of course, our heroes escape, and Varen and his men find themselves
on the receiving end of Presto's new floating rock trick.
Korlok, The 12th Talisman. A wizard
who spent his entire life seeking the magic12th Talisman, also called the
Stone of Astra-- only to find that keeping it was not worth the price he
would have to pay. It's uncertain what became of him once he gave
it up, but he's bound to be happier for it.
Kosar, Child of the Stargazer. This
lad had the bad luck to be born to an astronomer, and Queen Syrith wasn't
about to take the chance that he might fulfill the prophecy that would
end her long reign of terror. He falls for Diana after spending most
of his life in prison, and now walks among the stars.
Lolth, Demon Queen of Spiders, Hall of Bones.
Watch out for beautiful women holding torches...she may say she
was "sent by a friend of yours," but she also might be the Queen of Spiders
in disguise! Lolth is currently falling down a bottomless pit after
a run-in with the kids, but she might be back....
Lorne, the orphan, Oddyssey of the 12th Talisman.
He's lonely and tired of scrounging for food. Only problem is, the
wonderous magic amulet he just found is driving away his new friends, and
making him the target of an evil wizard. Still, he finds a kindred
spirit in Eric, whose friendship he values more than the amulet.
Lukion, the Spellbinder, Prison Without Walls.
This gnome had the bad luck of being keeper of a secret Venger wanted...which
landed him in the body of a shambling mound (also known as a "mound of
killer crabgrass") until Presto broke the spell.
Martha, the Lightbringer, The Winds of Darkness.
Her family was stolen by the Darkling, who seemed to follow her wherever
she tried to find shelter and acceptance, and who delighted in hurting
her. It took a lot of convincing before she finally realized that
her own innate powers were enough to finally defeat him.
Merlin, Night of No Tomorrow. His
biggest spell saved the town of Helix from dragons a thousand years ago,
which is why Venger assumes his form to trick an innocent Presto into undoing
it. Had a neat floating castle.
Mirinda, the Last Illusion. Varla's
gentle mother, who also risks her life to help give the children a chance
to save her lost daughter.
The Nightmare, Venger's faithful steed. The beast is never named in the series, but it's obviously no ordinary horse. It snorts smoke and doesn't seem to mind being blown up by Venger's backfiring spells.
The Nightwalker, the beast who has no name, City
at the Edge of Midnight. This monster-under-the-bed is especially
cruel- he steals children right out of their beds and forces them to stop
the wheels of time in his city, keeping it forever on the verge of midnight.
Until he makes the big mistake of stealing Bobby, too....
The Phantom Stalkers, Garden of Zinn.
These creepy goons are mere clouds of smoke...which makes them rather difficult
to fight. Until Sorlors turns them into stone, that is.
Queen Solinara, The Treasure of Tardos.
A tough lady who commands one of the few areas of the Realm that has managed
to resist Venger's control for centuries. Her job: protect the dragonbane
from falling into Venger's hands...or if Tardos keep should finally fall,
to destroy it forever.
Queen Syrith, Child of the Stargazer.
Another demon, who could apparently only muster enough of an illusion to
cloak half her body in a human-looking guise. The other half remains
hidden under her cloak. As ruthless as Venger, if not moreso, she'll
stop at nothing to prevent Kosar and Diana from fulfilling the prophecy.
Queen Tasmira, Cave of the Faerie Dragons.
A good queen, dispite her diminuitive size and funny-looking antenna.
The kids rescue her from King Varen and help her people find a new home.
Queen Zinn, Garden of Zinn. On the
verge of fulfilling her evil scheme to steal her brother's throne, Eric's
bride-to-be fell victim to her own curse when Sheila broke the spell on
her brother, Sir Lawrence.
Rahmoud, caravan merchant and king of many kings, City
at the Edge of Midnight. Rahmoud had sought his stolen daughter
Aiyesha for many years in the guise of a merchant, when he finally met
up with six kids in need of a father. His kindness and generousity
make him one of the best and most memorable guest appearances in the series.
(VOICE note: His voice sounds hauntingly similiar to Optimus
Prime, making it likely that Peter Cullen (AKA Venger!) voiced this character)
Sir Lawrence (Sorlars), Garden of Zinn.
Proof once more that beauty is only skin-deep, Sir Lawrence was under a
spell that twisted his body and his speech, but not his good heart.
His compassion for a sick little boy prompted Sheila's tears of gratitude,
which broke the spell that bound him.
Sir John, Eye of the Beholder. He's
not the brightest knight in the world, but when it comes to saving children
from wicked Beholders, the once-cowardly Sir John has proved himself one
of the bravest.
Sogor, The Lost Children. Don't listen
to this kidder- he's not really 74 years old....he's only 73 and a half.
Complete with a big sis who wouldn't let him go out on his own until he
was 65....
Strongheart, Servant of Evil. Brave
and resourceful (not to mention patient enough to spend ten years chipping
at a loose stone), Strongheart also posesses a magic weapon like those
of the kids- a golden hammer (complete with matching helmet). As
a consequence, he got to spend ten years languishing in Venger's Prison
of Agony, after Venger stole it from him.
Terry, The Girl who Dreamed Tomorrow.
She's another coaster-castaway like our heroes, but her powers are innate-
she can dream the future! Which means that even though Bobby might
(reluctantly) have found the love of his life, they have to get her back
to Earth before Venger can get his hands on her.
The Three Strangers, P-R-E-S-T-O Spells Disaster.
Don't play the Skull Game with this three-headed ogre. If you lose,
they keep your pet unicorn. If you win, you get to keep the worthless
magic marbles....
Tiamat, Queen of the Dragons, miscelaneous episodes.
She's the five-headed queen of dragons, and she's got her own dimension
to retreat to. She is easily annoyed, both by loud little boys who
disturb her sleep and by one-horned Vengers who try to dominate her.
But she is intelligent and can be reasoned with-- sometimes.
Timothy, Eye of the Beholder. The
optimistic son of Sir John, who never once doubted that his father would
find his courage. Someday, anyway.
Ughar, the Dark Dwarf, Dungeon at the Heart of Dawn. Ughar is the leader of the dark dwarves of the Underworld, enlisted by Venger to keep the kids from reaching the wellspring of power before Venger does.
Varla, the illusionist, The Last Illusion.
She's also an amateur magician like Presto, but her powers are innate.
Venger captured her and kept her too weak to escape by forcing her to perform
various illusions. She turns the tables on him, though, after losing
her heart to Presto.
Warduke, In Search of the Dungeonmaster.
With glowing eyes under a horned helmet, and a sword that can trap creatures
in crystal, this is one bounty hunter you don't want to mess with.
He even trapped the Dungeonmaster himself, though it's not entirely clear
if that wasn't just what wiley ol' DM had in mind all along.
Willy, the slimebeast, P-R-E-S-T-O Spells
Disaster. The pet of the infamous Giant-with-the-brooklyn-accent.
His favorite meals include small children and dragon eggs, and his favorite
game is Hide-'n'-Eat. Willy makes a guest appearance in "Servant
of Evil," apparently working for Venger after the demise of his giant keeper.
Zandora, The Box. This diminutive
little old lady reminds one of Dungeonmaster, with her wise words and quick
thinking. Trapped in an alternate dimension by Venger, she turns
the tables on him and returns the favor, saving the kids in the process.
